Illusions of the Body

Amazing "before & after" pairings of "typical" bodies. Very interesting project. Enjoy!

Poor posture & a sour look on your face sure makes a difference.

We discussed this just last month, though then the original link was to an article on a news site talking about about the photo series, rather than to the artist's site. But it's the same artist and material--Gracie Hagen, "illusions of the Body".

It looks to me as if she told people to undress and then said "Standing there naked, try to make yourself as attractive as possible, then as ugly as possible". It turns out that a lot of people can do that, using just body posture and facial expression, but I don't know that it's a great revelation. One thing it seems to prove is that she knows a lot of people with tattoos.

I have a couple of friends who just seem to have a natural knack for moving and standing so that they look graceful and interesting; it's as if every picture I've taken of them is guaranteed to make them look good, or let's say even if a photographer is totally casual, they'll come out looking attractive. I am certainly not like this!

My two friends (who haven't met) and I will be at the Midwinter Gathering in Florida next month, and I'm looking forward to seeing them together. I wonder if there's something that they'll recognize in each other.

On the other hand, you could just be wary of your moods and not be grumpy when you are naked...
