Noticed this over at the NUFF...

Naturists wanted for Egghead challenge

Twelve Yard Productions are hoping to get a team of naturists to appear on the next series of the BBC2 quiz show "Eggheads" and possibly win A CASH PRIZE…

In a "deceptively simple game show format" visiting teams challenge the Eggheads - the most formidable quiz team in the country - in a contest over five rounds. In each of these first four rounds the Challengers are given a category and must choose a member of their own team to play and an Egghead against whom they will compete. The loser is eliminated and cannot play for his or her team in the fifth and deciding round of general knowledge questions. If the Eggheads win the final round the prize money increases - £1000 being added to the prize money for each day it is not claimed.

Anyone interested in taking part should contact the producers via their website.

Alternatively you can email: eggheads@12yard.com

Challengers need a team of 6 (five plus one reserve) and they have to be above the age of 18. A minimum of 3 members of the team will need to attend an audition which will take 2 hours and take place in late spring early summer.

The show having a 6pm timeslot I imagining they'll have the team dress, just as Mary Whitehouse intended.

Eggheads... that made me instantly think of Dr. Robotnik/Eggman from the Sonic world. :p I so must lower my daily Sonic dose...

Aw.. It's a pity I don't live in the U.K. But even if I had the possibility to travel there to compete I wouldn't be able to. University will start up at that time of year, and I'll need to be back a few weeks earlier for preparations. :(

If anyone of you U.K. guys and gals decide to enter and compete I will be cheering for you! :)

Having watched the programme a few times I can be certain that I won't be going on it!!

The questions are way over my head. It's a more advanced quiz than most others.

But if they want someone to sit all nuddie and smile at the camera I recon I could do that :D

I could be the team mascot 8)

I find that half the questions are so easy as to be obvious, the other half are simply impossible!

I guess like all quizzes it just depends on a bit of luck as to whether you get questions you know or not, a la Slumdog Millionaire!

I watch this and agree with most of the comments so far. Basically there are 4 rounds, and each round sees a challenger go head to head with an egghead. They face 3 multiple choice questions each, and the loser is elimnated whilst the winner goes through to the final round. The final round then sees however remaining eggheads take on however remaining challengers, again facing 3 multiple choice questions each time. However in the final round the teams can discuss the question before coming up with their answer.

Usually the first question everyone faces is pretty simple, especially being multiple choice, however these questions do get more difficult. The hard part is that if it is a draw after 3 questions each, it goes to sudden death and the question is no longer multiple choice.

I hope all that makes sense, but I do enjoy this show.

Regarding having a team of naturists on it, again I can not see them all being naked as it is shown at 6pm BBC2 weekdays. Each team sits behind a desk, so you see each person from the chest upwards. I guess it is possible that it could be an all male team and have them all naked as it would not really show anything, however I can not see them showing any female team members like this.

Hi guys
I think the aim of the programme makers is to show that a person can have naturist views , and be an intellectual at the same time! ( contrary to what many people think). I really hope they do get a bunch of brainy bod's to apply( and not ALL male aswell).

Why would anybody think there's any correlation one way or the other between having naturist views and being an intellectual in the first place?

I suspect from the comments about the level of questions that their ratings are too low, and they think the promise of a bit of flesh might help. (Oops, was that a tad cynical about the good intentions of television producers? My bad. )

I seriously doubt that the programme makers have any intention of letting people on the show naked. I don't know if you've watched it David, but it's a serious quiz show with a good following. And as for wanting to show that intellectual people can be Naturists aswell...... I think it's a good idea, becauase afterall , alot of people ( paticularly in the UK ) think that you are a little bit "not normal" ( whatever normal is!) for being a Naturist.
So like I said before, I hope they do get a mixed gender team who applies, and beat the genius's!

Good point, Steve. All I know about the show is what I gather from this thread. My general distrust of the television industry may well be misplaced here.
