Avatars

Postby FrankT on Fri Aug 21, 2009 2:21 am

We've had a couple of cases recently where members have posted avatars with full frontal nudity.

Just a reminder: We can't allow this. This isn't our rule. Cat's web host doesn't allow frontal nude images. So posting them here could jeopardize the future of this board.

Thanks for your understanding. :)

If I'm not mistaken PHPBB3 lets you customize the text people have to click "I agree" to before they can join. I'm not totally sure, the last time I administered a board it was at version 2. It could be a good idea to put that there, in all caps, in bold. People might not read those things before they click "I agree" but they would notice that sentence that stands out.

As a moderator I greatly appreciate the concerns both UKNudechap and Blizz have shown. At this time I'm not aware of problems with anyone's avatars.

No, because the few avatars that didn't fit the bill aren't there any more. :) Basically, we don't want--won't allow--frontal nudity. We've had very few problems. When there was an issue, we (one of the moderators) simply PM'd the person, and the avatar got changed.

But thanks for asking.

You pay each of the moderators $1,000. :)

Or, if you don't want to do that, you can click on User Control Panel near the top of this page. Then click on the Profile tab, then Edit Avatar. The specific instructions are there. If you still have questions, feel free to post here again.

If you mean to use as your avatar, then anything there would be copyright to noodtoonist. However, if you wanted to use a bit snipped from one you could always ask him. He sometimes posts here The worst he can say is "no". Or "pay me $10,000." :)
There are programs that will make a cartoon of you, I don't know where to find them, but other posters do.

I'm happy for my art to be used for avatars. I'm even happier if I'm also paid $10,000... ;)

Or---
I could get out some crayons and I'll make you an Avatar personally for $100. Let's see.... I have six colors. The other two were eaten by the dog.

There now. I just drew it on the monitor. How does that look?

I'll do one for $1.
I got about a grade 5 in CSE art about 33 years ago. I can't draw for toffee, but WTH you get what you pay for! :)
