1. what do the topic icons with the stars and animated lines mean?

mostly curious, but might be useful

The stars and animated lines denote a "Hot Topic" (one with a lot of replies).

I don't know what causes the RE, except possibly clicking "Quote" when replying to a post.

Thanks, Cat! I should mention that this thread's "reply" screen now has options spread around it (bold, italic, disable BBCode, etc.) which it did not have before, but these options were appearing on the "reply" screens of other threads.

If you want names on things on the left then that will have to be changed in the theme. I haven't been able to figure that out yet.

I think we should be grateful that Cat still has the enthusiasm and commitment to upgrade the site. I didn├óÔé¼Ôäót like it when I first saw it, but it very quickly grew on me. I must be one of the oldest posters on this site and if I can easily adapt then it should be simple for everybody else! Does it really matter that the contributors├óÔé¼Ôäó details and avatar are now shown on the right hand side?

Just one small plea- can we have current U.K time shown?

Thanks again, Cat.

Thank you for your support. I did have the same reaction about avatars and names being on the right but after a couple of days it grew on me too. Now I'm quite happy with it that way round. Let's leave it this way for a week and then run a poll to see what people favour the most.

This my first viewing of the site since the changeover, first impression is good, it has a cleaner fresher image, the avatar on the right isn't a problem and I haven't found anything that puts me off yet!

Profiles are now back on the left. You might need to logout and login again to see the change.

Thank you, I was getting some wierd display errors with everything on the other side.

Since each person can choose their own forum theme in their user settings wouldn't it be simpler to just make a copy of the default theme with the funky reversed layout for people to choose?
