Now HTTPS

Postby Cat on Mon Jan 01, 2018 6:52 pm

In case anyone is interested, I've now got HTTPS set up for the site. I know sites show up in Chrome as not being safe without it now and I just wanted to keep up with the times :)

I clicked on the link, didn't see anything new…am I missing something?
I couldn't access the site at about this time yesterday, no problem at all today, is that related?

Thanks, Cat, that provides you and us with more security. I enquired about doing that for my website but the cost and administrative chores seemed excessive for me. So that means you are incurring more costs - how do folks make a contribution to you to help defray your costs?

Thanks, Cat. We certainly wouldn't want to feel unsafe. :)

The 2 sites are running side by side. Chatbocks with the padlock & chatbocks without. What is the purpose of the https site? This is just a forum. No financial transactions are carried out.

Both http and https take you to the same place. Chrome has changed to show any site that isn't https as unsafe. It also means you appear further down the list when people search on Google so only being http would make it harder for people to find us. Most sites are using https now. Some people want to feel more secure and so I wanted to let people have the option. You can choose to use whichever one you prefer.
